Hello,I'm new here and can't seem to find anything on this quarter I've come across recently. There is nothing online about it so I'm hoping some of you might know more or if I have stumbled upon an error coin! *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

It definitely is part of the coin, not painted on.

@PB, first welcome to CCF. Second, perhaps not paint, but the gold color has been added after this coin left the mint. For example, some folks will gold plate parts of the design in order to make a common coin seem more valuable. I'm thinking that this is what you have (unfortunately only worth face value).

To CCF! Maybe it used to be a colorized Quarter that was put into circulation, and now it's wearing off?

Good plating doesn't come off. Just, poorly plated ones peel. Looks like they painted over the lines.

It's just paint or plating. Worth face value.
