My penny is faded in almost the same spot,it is slightly raised there, plus it has a ton of offcoloring, silver color. What does the silver color mean?
I wouldn't call it a weak strike. More of a lack of spreading the metal issue. It happens a lot. Very common. Think how the metal has to move around. Yet on plated coins it is less common, but does happen that the plating gets split. I guess we are the ones more concerned about what the strike looks like.
