Looked all over for a similar set without the red border but can't find an example. Seen it on other sets but not 1960. I would assume it is fairly common. Has anyone seen it? Thanks so much

to CCF. The token does not look familiar to me? Does it look like some one cut the color part off?

I am no expert, but it doesn't look like other 1960 Denver mint sets. Mint token is different and in the wrong position (should be in a corner), AND no red border.

I would guess it is not an original mint issue set.

It doesn't look like the red was cut off and the sealing between coins doesn't look glued. Why would anyone go to all the trouble to create a "fake" mint set. The coins look authentic.

The packaging is called a flat pack. They did not have the red or blue line and the token was either in the corner or in the middle.
What I don't recognize is the stamp on that token. Below are the only Denver tokens from 1960 That I have seen. I see that it says "Uncirculated Year Set" instead of saying "Uncirculated Mint Set" Like that type token did when they used it in later years. Maybe it is just that I have not seen it.

I've seen both types, but the token is a little different. Odd. Thanks for the reply

Why would the Denver mint use a Nazi type eagle logo?
Rest in Peace

That is aftermarket, those coins in there look like crap, unless your color is off. Plus that Eagle logo isn't you S Mint issued, private firm. No guarantee then that those are MS coins, not turned that way. Looks like a bubble wrap mailer too, Mint NEVER used them, only envelopes and boxes. That could be an old food wrap seal edge too. Authenticity is questionable, I'd get your money back!

Arrrrrrgh! I give up! Between CCF and my fone doing the autocorrektion, I will stop trying to clean up my pists!

Aftermarket set.
The pliofilm sealing pattern does not match that used by the mint, it was sealed using different equipment.
Does the envelope in the pic have a return address on the other side?
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I've seen similar tokens in 1982 & 1983 aftermarket sets.
