New and I'm not even sure how to work this but I'll do my best I was born & raised in Arizona & currently living in Alabama. I actually just got into collecting coins & have found some interesting things out about a lot.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything on this 1972 D Lincoln Penny with the ear as it is?

To CCF! The ear took a hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened. It's Post Strike Damage (meaning it happened after it left the U.S. Mint).
Errers and Varietys.

Contact mark from a pointed item. (possible ball point pen damage to the coin)

Yeah it's a coin that's been roughed up a little. One a coin is "struck" in the press, any damage that it receives from circulating is called PSD for Post Strike Damage. Sometimes you might see it referred to as PMD, Post Mint or Minting Damage. KK
