I agree with all here that this is a VF coin. Unfortunately the NGC grader had visions of sugar plums dancing in his head.

This is a problem with TPGs...they grade the coin and people take it as gospel!!! When you try to tell them otherwise they shoot you and your 50 years of numismatic experience down.

I doubt any experienced dealer would buy this coin as stated on the holder but many collectors would and that is a problem. The whole idea behind TPG's starting in the 1970's was to make it so that coins could be traded sight unseen and sold in the investment community. Not so anymore.

I want to believe that TPG started out as an altruistic venture that was gonna benefit all, and that this venture just got corrupted over time into a money making machine to keep those $10 bills coming in.
