Sweet coin. Would be sweeter out of jail.
Looks like RIC 61: Trajan Denarius. 102-103 AD. IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AVG GERM, laureate head right, slight drapery on left shoulder / PM TRP COS IIII PP, Victory walking right, holding wreath and palm. RIC 61 var (bust type); RIC 61 var (bust type); RSC 244a; Woytek -. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...IC_0061v.jpg

Trajan denarii are pretty common but assuming the reverse isn't super-special, I'd say you could get $150-250 depending on venue. At least that's what a glance at Coinarchives.com suggests they are going for.

I don't know if I would grade this as an AU, I'd say it is an EF. Based on condition only and not on RIC rarity, I'd say a $90-$100 coin.

Compare the level of detail on the two raw coins below, graded EF and VF respectively by CNG. Note particularly the area around the top of Trajan's ear and around Victory's waist and hips. These are the high points of the design. I'd grade the op coin "gVF to near EF, attractively toned" but I'm old-fashioned and cantankerous. It looks like a nice coin. My advice is to price it for what it is, not for the slab. Is that a defect of some sort in the field near the bridge of Trajan's nose?

Trajan's coins are very common, even in high grade. Only the ones with historically significant reverses tend to go for big bucks; this one is pretty generic. It has a superb strike and eye appeal, but has spots of circulation wear and die wear - forgivable faults, but they will affect the price.

I'd say $100 is a solid deal; probably wouldn't go over $150.

I see nothing particularly special about the coin other than that the legends are bold
Stylistically the portrait is second rate although the reverse is quite nicely rendered
If offered to me for $75 I would "think about it"
At one hundred I would pass
