The folks here will have many tips they could provide you.

Be more specific. Tell us about yourself, your interests, what you're looking for, how you have conducted searches in the past and your positive or negative experiences.

All depends on your budget and what your looking for. My CRH budget is $500 so I make it work with lower denominations and a few large denominations as a reward for myself.

Here's one for you. go to your local bank, and buy a bank box of U.S. Pennies (that's what it said on the box, for the picky folks), for only 25 dollars face value. I've have plenty of success searching these boxes, and have found good error and variety coins.

For what to look for check out my youtube videos on my signature line. The general theme is. "Coin Fishing" What to keep and what to throw back. If covers various subjects. On the area below this post you will see the numbers/subjects numbered 1-5. These are about 20 minutes long and overall viewing is about 2 hours.

Another thing to look for in under CoopHome. It covers various subjects with hundreds of images, discussion and on page two there is the up dated list. (it may open to that page anyway, if not, go to page 2) A lot of reading, view and helps to get your brain/eyes trained as what to look for. Just click on the blue link under that title.

You will probably get better responses in the Coin Roll Hunting section, so I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

My tips apply to "coin hunting etiquette"

If hunting halves, always buy them all, if possible, out of courtesy. Tellers detest halves. Even if the rolls look like dumps, buy them all. I can't count the times that when I bought known dumped customer rolls, a solid silver roll or two were in the mix. Random rolls can and do end up in the mix.

If asked your coin buying intentions, never mention the word 'silver'.

Dump your rejects at a coin counter at a different bank than you bought from.

Gifting tellers is not a big deal, but remember they're just doing their job. I gift once a year. Gift them often, or when you make a big silver score, and you may find your treasures suddenly dry up (as in newly 'educated' teller).

You don't always have to have an account at certain banks to order boxes of coin, or individual rolls.

Try and find banks with zero fees and do your best to comply with their requirements to avoid fees. Really helps your bottom line.

Don't poach boxes. My pet peeve.

The key to successful roll hunting is to search volume.

Good luck

Poaching - the act of one coin hunting enthusiast knowingly buying a box that someone else has ordered.
It's happened to me several times. One time that I vividly remember, the other coin roll hunter begged the teller to open a $500 box of halves. He had only $50 on his person, and proceeded to buy 5 rolls at a time, leaving the bank to search each roll in his car out in the parking lot, only to dump the rolls at the counter and buy 5 more until he upset the teller and she cut him off. The box was partially full when I picked it up, and she apologized for what that hunter had done.
