Think you may want to check the font on the date there, Ace...
You do realize that's a $900+ coin don't you? It looks polished because off metals do look better that way.
Ya catch my drift...?

Not sure if it is the pictures or the lighting ...
The fields look polished.
Also it would be nice if the pictures were posted with the proper orientation.

What is wrong with the font of the date? It looks exactly like that of a slabbed example.

I agree this looks polished. The seller likely knew that and that's why they accepted $740 when they were asking $1,250. Still a nice coin.

Thanks for the comments so far. My feeling viewing it in hand is that it has not been polished but does have quite a few hairlines that come off amplified due to the coin's natural finish. I've never seen the rim on a SLD in this condition. It is very sharp and crisp, unlike morgan's I've handled. Is this typical?

It's lightly polished, high AU details.

Hairlines are prevalent. Pictures aren't ideal- my neck hurts . polished harshly cleaned. Might be an ms coin, the strike is sharp.

Sorry about that. I turned them all the right way in windows explorer and they still came out rotated. Guess I should've previewed.

I'm always suspicious when a raw coin of that value looks that good. I want mine slabbed.

The hairlines seem restricted to the fields, and are not in parallel; to me, this is evidence of light circulation, an AU-58 "slider" Uncirculated coin, along with the interrupted luster. I would buy it from a seller who had a very firm 14 or 30 day return policy only, and in-hand, carefully check it for signs of alteration or damage that may have been hidden by the photos; beware, if it sold for much less than its market value, of well-executed counterfeits. Authentication by a TPG is strongly recommended here for financial peace of mind.

Many times TPGs won't details a coin that old.. maybe you'd get lucky if you sent it in and it'd straight grade, If it's polished it must be light because I think I still see some original luster (vs the flat look heavily polished coins have). I agree there are hairlines but still looks nice for a 150+ year old coin. Hard to tell if it's cleaned or not.

Do you intend to send it to TPG? I know I'm really curious, and I have to go with polished as well.
