Hub doubling affect other devices around the coin the same. Machine Doubling doesn't follow rules:

Machine Doubling can happen on any year. Be different from coin to coin or be normal. They are just a plague to coin collecting. They deceive so many new ones buying them and later finding out they are not a doubled die. We try to prevent that from education here.

Machine Doubling, since the size is reduced. Remember, Machine Doubling reduces the size of the devices, while a real Doubled Die increases the size of the devices. http://www.error-ref.com/machine-doubling/
