They are super notes! Simply raise your budgets and you might have extra to spare next time.

My modest goal is to obtain one of every Bank and Dominion of Canada note in uncirculated condition (if possible), ignoring signatures, minor variations and serial numbers. Unfortunately, it is getting expensive. This was by far my biggest one-time purchase. Oh well, I got a good jump-start on the expensive ones anyway. Will try to pace myself. Has anyone else made this a collecting goal?

Beautiful! This goal is a bit beyond my budget. I am focused on 50 cent, $1 and $2 Bank and Dominion of Canada notes. I'm aiming for uncirculated for the 1937 series and up and decent condition for the older ones.

Quote: My modest goal is to obtain one of every Bank and Dominion of Canada note in uncirculated condition (if possible), ignoring signatures, minor variations and serial numbers. A) Modest? I would consider this a very ambitious goal for many of the collectors I know. B) If I were to ignore signatures & serial numbers (as well as special numbers, change-overs & short prefixes) than I would give up collecting paper money altogether. These are the very things that fascinate me about collecting paper money.

Luckily, no wife. Free to blow my money as I see fit.
I just don't have any interest in variations in signatures and serial numbers. To me they are just minor variations. I am more interested in type sets of the major design. I capitulated with the inclusion of Devil Face notes but am contemplating collecting the English version of a 1935 when I have the french version and vice versa. Have not decided yet on that.
I call it modest because I only want one type. Imagine a collection with every signature variation. If I recall, there are 5 or 6 versions of the 1954 $1000 bill alone. Ugh.

Quote: I am more interested in type sets of the major design. I capitulated with the inclusion of Devil Face notes I am trying to understand this. Recently, I started to collect world notes -so I'm getting there (but even with that- I am always more keen to collect the rarer signature variety according to the Standard Catalogue of World Paper Money). If you put a modified 1954 note next to a Devil's Face I feel the DF (original engraving of the Karsh photo) a much more appealing design (typically the front tints seem deeper too). I was at that point in my life when I resumed this collecting bug in earnest & I only wish I had a little more sense to reign in my appetite. I feel like I would have had a much better collection had I developed a tighter focus on exactly what I wanted to collect. If I had it to do over- I'd put more money into fewer/older notes. Anyway- I eventually did sell off all my higher denominations but now my eye has wandered to the worldly stuff

Quote: My modest goal is to obtain one of every Bank and Dominion of Canada note WOW! Really an impossible goal. Some Canadian banknotes are too extremely rare and without them being in your collection your goal will never be completed. As I think about it now I wonder if anyone has achieved this goal, ever.
