I received this Tacitus antoninianus in yesterday's mail. It is a high grade piece with little, if any, wear and full silvering. I love the depiction of the curls on Tacitus' beard running down on to his neck.

The reverse depicts the emperor receiving a globe from Jupiter with reverse legend PROVIDENT DEOR.

The coin is attributed as RIC,Vol. V, Part 1, #212 from the Antioch mint.

It is 22 mm. in diameter and weighs 3.75 grams.

Very nice coin !....

Are you sure its RIC 210?...Looks like RIC 212? With the PROVIDENT DEOR reverse.

Does seem to be a dead ringer for RIC 212 (Cohen 99).

I think it's interesting how youthful the emperor is made to appear considering he was at least 75 at the time.

In any event, a wonderful specimen!

You are right. It is 212.

The reverse design is the same as 210, which is CLEMENTIA TEMP, and I had that in mind when I put up the post.

I'll make the change.
