PCGS - The subject of our second April calendar coin, Booker T. Washington, also happens to have been born on this day in 1856. Washington appears on half dollars from 1946-1951, including this MS68 graded 1946 D piece, designed by Isaac Scott Hathaway.

Love the color. I'd offer a bid if it lacked the ticks revealing the underlying silver on the obverse.
None the less, a rare grade.

Pretty amazing. Color usually triumphs in the end. Probably the lamest design of the classic commemoratives.

Some like toning like this, some don't.
I prefer toning that is nicely consistent across all areas of the coin.

I like toning sometimes, but this coin looks pretty bad to me, especially the obverse.

I agree. There's not the 'wow' eye appeal.
Nice coin nonetheless.
