I am collecting Lincoln cents. So far I am focused on 1935 to date, all circulated mint marks. What album do you recommend that will let me see both sides of the coins? Where is the best place to get this album?

Dansco albums are by far the best option. You can get them for approx $20-35 USD on ebay.

This is a controversial subject , discussed quite often . It's more or less ones opinion over another . A lot of guys like the Dansco ,but I always went with Whitman . Some say the Dansco is made better while others will go with another brand entirely .

I would use Dansco, personally, but there are several good options. It's probably not worth getting a CAPS album for this set, unless you plan on getting very high grade coins.

Any one you use will have dates running 1909-1958 in one for the Wheat cent, then 1959 to about 1998 and another for the remaining Memorial and shield cents. My option was to use a Whitman blank binder, insert unlabeled blank pages for all the 1959-present coins including proofs. I used a Brother PTouch labelmaker, worked out fine. Actually have all Indian Head and Wheat cents in one binder and one binder for the rest of the Lincoln's. Otherwise I'd have four separate binders. Conserved space, a big factor when considering all the other coin series. That would have required over 20 different binders, I have 10.

Not to try to correct you Crazy, but Dansco has one that runs from 1909-2009 with proofs(1968->present) and one w/out proofs.

For me, a lot would depend on the quality of the coins I'm putting in the album. If the coins are average/common circulated coins, I would choose the least expensive album. As the condition and quality of your coins goes up, I would invest in the nicer albums. That's how I started out years ago. Whichever one you decide to go with, post some pictures here when you're finished. We would like to see what you chose and how it looks. Good luck! No pressure!

Just shows I'm not a Dansco guy! But can you Expand that Dansco or is it Packed?

I expanded my Whitman Jefferson album with a blank page for proofs and it was disappointing. It is not the same dimensions or hole-alignment as the originals. The quality is much lower, as well, and a slightly different color. Maybe I got a bad egg, but I was underwhelmed to say the least.
All I can say is that my initial impression of a Dansco album was better than my initial impression of a Whitman album.

I prefer Whitman Classic Albums. The color of a Dansco makes Copper coins sort of lost since similar in color. My Whitman Album has 10 pages in it so good for all Lincoln Cents up to about the year 2026. You could try Wizard web site for them. Not sure about sending things to other countries. Note there was a recent post about the differences in those two.

Thanks for all the information. I have done some preliminary research and have found that many websites do not ship to Canada or charge outrageous shipping. I may have to wait until I'm in the U.S. again and see if I can pick something up at a coin shop.

It's a shame you have to wait until you come to America again. You could drive to Buffalo and be there in a couple of hours. They have a few nice coin shops.

Quote: But can you Expand that Dansco or is it Packed? I could probably get one more page in it If I wanted to. It has 9 in it currently. But like you said, conserving space. 100 years worth of a series in one book is nice. It is a little heavy when it is only missing 4 coins though.

You could get a Dansco 7100 and remove the first two pages as Page 3 starts with 1935. If you ever decide to go earlier, you'd already have the pages and album you need.

I've added blank pages to my Jefferson nickel Albums too and never had those problems. Actually I've added blank pages to many Whitman Albums and never had that problem. If you get them from directly from Whitman, you should complain to them. However, if purchased at a local store, may have got some really old stock. And if using Whitman, remember to order those sheets of stick on letters/numbers in Gold.
