Hi guys and gals. Is there any valid reason why my 1930-S Lincoln Wheat cent weighs 2.95 grams? Even with wear I couldn't see it losing such amount of weight. It is also thinner than the normal planchet. @ 1.46mm. If anyone has any idea why there are these differences or any explanation I would be most grateful. T.I.A.

It's within acceptable tolerances.

Weight Tolerances are 3.11gr +/-.13gr...meaning low side would be 2.97gr, well within given tolerance and scale differences/wear factors. Width is immaterial, that will change with pressures of strikes either forcing more or less to run up inside the collar.

Does anyone know where these guys trying to find these weight problems get their ideas? Youtube or a book?

Tolerance plus wear = normal coin.

You should research a bit more and not be such a . UK coin tolerances are a lot tighter than the US. Is why I asked the question.

Wow...if the Brits think they've got tight tolerances, what about the Germans?

Hey zookeeper - C'mon. We are talking about US Mint Tolerances for a US coin. UK tolerances are irrelevant.
