I use thin white cardboard 2x2's for as many of my coins as I can and use plastic mylar(?) ones for the tokens bigger than silver dollar size. The plastic ones I'm currently using are starting to concern me, because they're very rigid and a lot of my tokens are finding it a tight fit. I know there are soft, pliant plastic flips out there because something recently came in one (below) -- who makes these? I know Lighthouse makes soft 2x2's but the one pictured below is a soft 2.5x2.5 and I do not readily see that. And while on it, does anybody know about how these plastics react with things? I really don't want to put my dowmetal (magnesium) token in it and get an unpleasant surprise a few years from now. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Many of the softer flips are PVC and intended for temporary storage. Make sure of the composition before you use them long-term.
FYI in case you didn't know - you can get the oversized cardboard flips that will accommodate items larger than a dollar.

Well, I'm glad I'm asking -- are all the soft sleeves PVC then? Yes, I do buy the larger cardboard ones (the ones that can fit bullion eagles), but those can't hold thick tokens. I'm hoping that there are some pliant flips that are non-reactive and can do so.

To be honest, I'm not sure if there are pliant flips that do not contain PVC. I would think there is something out there but I don't use them myself. I expect someone else will have that info for you shortly.

Since no one else has commented, I looked up a possible option for you. I haven't used these so cannot personally recommend. See if these may be what you are searching for:

Give this article a read before you decide. This is a column that @Commems found a while back.

Those are the kinds of 2.5's that I currently use. I may have to really think hard about alternatives to them, it seems.

The only soft flips I ever use are the 2.5" large Crown sized ones, and only for shipping to a TPG (which I hardly do any more). Coins should never stay in any soft plastic storage container for more than a week at most - EVER!
