*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***Hi all. First time posting. Received lots of coins from dad who passed and he identified a few ones as important. Have done some research but cannot find something like this. It's a 1955s penny very hard to read, and extremely thin. The penny itself has not been squished as there is no deformation to the images on the front or back. Thoughts folks? Thank you. sorry folks, here are the images. I hope they work after my attempt to edit the post I made. I have never posted anything ever on a public forum. so thanks for your patience. one photo shows it thickness relative to a normal penny. Edited by Playadelrey 09/28/2018 8:27 pm

To thee CCF As stated, pictures of both the Obverse and Reverse will be required. It could be anything from a thin planchet to an acid etched Cent. No way of telling without them.

Because of being very thin, I am highly suspecting that it was dipped in acid.

Thanks Errers and Varietys. I was unaware that is how acid would affect a coin. Sorry to bother everyone with something that turned out to be a dud.

You didn't bother anyone, that's how we learn. I can't agree at this time with it being acid etched, so I would like to see better pictures of Obverse and Reverse as these are too small and blurry to see any detail. I have seen a planchet that thin before when someone showed one on a youtube video but then there was a discussion about it's legitimacy. Maybe one of our experts here can shed more light on it.
PS Please crop and post pictures oriented properly as per CCF instructions.

It could be acid or just worn or something else. Closer images would be helpful.

Even with these pics, I'm quite sure that E&V is correct.

Sharper, closer-up pics would be helpful. Although, I'm pretty sure it's PMD (acid dipped)

Acid dipped. If the planchet was that thin when struck, it would be blank. Nothing would show.
