Hey guys! I recently purchased a large collection from a collectors daughter. He passed down his coins over 20 years ago before he passed away. Included in the collection was over 95 double dollar sets, specimen sets, tons of old paper money, and binders of coins. I have a binder with over 300 nickel dollars to variety search for. Included in the first few pages of coins were these 6 coins. They look beautiful. I've always been more of a NCLT collector but recently decided to vast away from my horizon and start collecting circulation coins. My main concern, are these pennies cleaned? 2 of them have a bit of tape residue on them from improper storage. They seem quite red and clean for such old coins without proper storage. Also, if anyone is feeling up to it, can you give me an opinion of the grades for these 6 coins! I appreciate everything you guys do on here! I've had such an amazing experience so far.

Certainly the first one is cleaned. The others seem OK, though the lighting makes it difficult to be sure.

I have the same opinion as Optimist-numismatist Quote: Hey Optimal. How can you tell? I dont know much about cleaned coins @NorthWestInvest: Unnatural colors + Multiple hairlines (Little scratches) + Softened reliefs
I'm sorry if my English isn't perfect... I'm learning a little more every day.

All look polished to me. The color and the reflectivity of the fields point to a cleaning.

Definitely in agreement with everyone else harshly clean/polished. Hopefully the rest of the coins aren't like that. On the plus side looks like alot of fun work ahead of you.

Yes, all cleaned. The 5 cent is VF for actual wear, but it is covered in scratches and dings, so probably F-15 net. The 2 1919's .. first one is XF wear, but spots/scratches take it down. The 2nd '19 is VF-20 wear and heavily cleaned. The '33 is VF-30 but spots take it down. The 2 '42's are XF-40 wear, but lowered due cleaning/spots. All nice to look at, but not worth much ... good golf-ball markers.

All have been cleaned and would carry a "details" grade.

Quote: How can you tell? I dont know much about cleaned coins In my opinion, the telltale sign of cleaning exhibited on your coins is the change in color around and within the edge lettering where the cleaning did not reach.

All cleaned imo.
Sounds like a fun collection to sort through though.
