Dearborn --- $90 is NOT horrible by far. Yes you overpaid but considering you got it online, this is a risk we all have to accept. One of my worst buys was on Facebook messenger for 2008 and 2009 US Mint sets totaling $44. Fair price you would think until I saw the packaging was falling apart and the glue or moisture seeped into some of the golden dollars causing ugly spotting, then add in a few were scratched during the production process and I was quite disappointed. Another was a 1928 Peace dollar in XF/VF but after buying it I saw that someone attempted to clean a small portion of it and then, thankfully, stopped. Nothing major but still I overpaid for it. And I saw this coin and held it, I just failed to miss this until after I purchased the item. So you are not alone! I think your idea of trading it in for an upgrade is an excellent one. Sometimes a reputable dealer would be glad to help you do this. If you have any junk silver add that to the coin to help you get a nice one. I did that to upgrade a 1941 WLB and buy a few nice modern mint sets.

thanks Coinnewcomer1. I try to get the best coins I can, sometimes they are not what I expected to get, but that is the way it goes sometimes. I, am by no means an expert on the early coins. I'm just starting to step into that realm now. My modern collection is full and up to date (but never finished), so I decided to start on the early sets - so much to learn there..

I bought a lot of Dutch coins over the years and got several of the silver 1 and 2½ guilders in a bulk lot of silver and I think I have most of the 1 guilder coins issued between 1954 (The first year of that type) down to 1980 (The last). The most interesting part is that 1967 had two coins, a silver and a nickel one! In 1982 they switched to the graphic design on the Beatrix coins but kept the same shape. The old silver 2½ guilder coins are much larger than the nickel ones. I only have 1960, 61 and 64 and then 1969 (Much shrunk). The others I have is a 1579 - 1979 one and the 1980 2 Queens coins showing Beatrix and Juliana when she abdicated. Also a 1973 10 Guilders Silwer Jubileum coin which is stained sadly. Most of the silver ones here, but there are other non Dutch coins too, my nickel ones are much better.
