I just received this big Bavarian 1778 H. ST silver thaler. It's in a nice, lightly circulated condition. There is a scratch in the right reverse field but the reverse is very clean and not beset with adjustment marks which seem to plague this issue.

You can compare it to these coins of the same issue with serious reverse adjustment marks. The first on is in a PCGS MS-64 holder.

Thanks dearborn and appreciate that observation. I am just happy I had the extra money to get a nice uncirculated 1933S.

dearborn - As I have only been collecting coins since late 2019, the world of varieties and errors I opnly know the tip of these vast icebergs. So this die polishing, although not major, would make this WLB a minor variety, such as happens with Morgan dollars?

It would make sense that the 1933S would have die polishing on some coins as San Francisco was the only mint producing silver halves in 1933.

@coinnewcomer1: your coin is a very nice example

I'm not by any means an expert on the Morgan or Liberty coins, I would suggest that you also post this coin up in the "US Classic and Colonial Variety and Error Coins" area and post up your picture there for further evaluation.
