I went to the Ohio State Coin Show on Friday and came away with a handful of stuff. Here are a couple. Silver gros, Philip IV of France (1280-1290). Ex. Andy Singer, whose inset notes, "Normandy barn hoard found in wall within flint." And a nice Conder Token that doesn't want its picture taken. You can use your imagination to see the glossy, reflective fields. Lincolnshire Spalding halfpenny, DH 6a

Quote:I see some neat die cracks on both sides.. have you tried to determine the VAM designation? By Golly, MrPink, I hadn't even noticed that! Now that you said it, I looked at the higher resolution copy of the photo I took and I see the crack up top on the reverse, but not seeing others, yet. As for VMA designation - I have never done that before, so I guess it is something to look into and learn now. It'll probably have to wait til the weekend due to work, but that's for the heads up!

Mestephil, it's a LOT of reading, and looking at pictures, and tedious examination of your coin. first thing I do when I get a morgan is to start looking for anything about the coin that shouldn't be there. sometimes die cracks can be a quick tell (but not always). have fun with it! nice coin!
