Thanks GLB49. As you may know I started out collecting coins/tokens of composers (see http://goccf.com/t/375519 ), but then branched out by including certain other music related items. For instance, for Australia I decided to collect a series of medals/coins featuring the Sydney Opera House through the years. In the case of Estonia, research revealed that they have a long tradition of singing. In fact, a national song festival was held in Tartu in the summer of 1869 for the first time. Ever since, the festival is held about twice each decade and often a coin or medal is struck to commemorate the event. It then seems appropriate and fun to collect a series of these coins and medals. |
