I picked-up this lil' beauty last week
=> It's My First Byzantine Coin ...
Justinian I AE FollisDate: Year 32 (558-559 AD) Diameter: 30.7 mm Weight: 17.3 grams Obverse: Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian I, holding globus cruciger and shield. Reverse: Large M.   ... kinda wild lookin', eh?

Wife got this in change today. I think it is a 1903 Barber dime in G4+ condition. Why couldn't it be a 1903 S?  Still this doesn't happen everyday.  |

Striking while the market was suitably cooled, I picked up some more silver today in the form of these beauties:   A touch of haggling with the fact that I was paying in cupro-nickle Ikes clipped the California sales tax off to make this a $47 purchase; $10.50 each for the halves and $5 for the proof. I may have sold myself short with respect to numismatic trade value on the Ikes (nothing spectacular, though), but I feel like I won on a new principle of mine: "No sales tax on goods manufactured by the US gov't" |

I went to the local coin show to try and get supplies. There was not a vendor for supplies, so I looked at the coins. This one was calling my name.  1925 Royal Mint Gold Sovereign   What name should this coin have? I have seen: 1925 Royal Mint Gold Sovereign 1925 Great Britain Gold Sovereign or give me another name |

I'd just say 1925 Great Britain Sovereign.
Otherwise you'll be dealing with, say, 1973 Franklin Mint Copper-Nickel 5 cents (instead of Br.Virgin Islands 5 cents)

I was only buying foreign coins for my Birth Year Set, but getting the Krugerrand (on page 80) opened my eyes to possibilities.  |
