Why? The silver proof set and S-mint PF ASE can be purchased for a lower price and you get more coins. No mintage limit or household limit either, so you are just paying a premium for packaging.

Good point. Last years had a bit of a hype due to the limited mintage of the ASE-(s). This years doesn't. Do like the packaging but not sure it's worth the extra $50.

I think a better value is simply buying the 2017 limited edition silver sets on the secondary market - the price is about the same as what the 2018 mint issue will sell for, and the ASE is rarer. This indicates the 2018 will sell on the secondary market for less than what the mint will sell them for, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
