So, today I went to the bank and asked for a few rolls of each denomination in canadian and american change. They told me they don't deal with american money and gave me only all the bundles of canadian money. Imagine my surprise when I got home and opened up my nickels and found that 3 full rolls were Jefferson nickels!! So far, I'm thinking maybe someone cashed in their collectibles because many are errors, and many are in great condition including one I would swear is a cameo type from a set. Finds so far, barely readable 1941 nickel misaligned dies letter and number doubling greased filled dies( I would assume that makes Jefferson appear to have no mouth) will write back soon with all that I found in my 3 rolls. by the way are there any special dates/errors I should keep my eyes open for? malissa

I only ask if there are specialties to look for because I have never really collected the american nickels. I have a few of the very new ones but that's all. From what I am seeing now I have no choice really but to put a set together as I have close to every year from 1958-1997 just in these 3 rolls.

ok, here are the pics I was able to take so far. I'm going to have to practice as I changed to the new energy efficient lightbulbs at my desk and the lighting is different. Hopefully you will be able to pick out what I think I'm seeing. 1) weird coin in with the nickels 2) 1994P with no mouth 3)1980S Cameo? 4)1992P weird surfaces and filled die? 5) 1986P x 3 all have same die fill? 6) 1977D Could be worn letters but the way the wear is shaped looks strange, also filled mint mark? 7)1984D Lettering in LIBERTY is strange 8) 1984D weird lettering, and rim that's all the photos for now and will await your opinions! thanks malissa

The foreign coin looks to be from Thailand.

It is from Thailand. It's a 1 baht. The date is BE2549 (2006). I am amazed how many different foreign coins circulate there and in the US.

The 1980s is a proof-only issue, so it is a circulated proof; nice find! In my nickel survey, I've found 5 circ proofs in 6400 rolls, so they are not very common. I found the exact same Thai coin in one of the rolls I did, but it very well might have a different date (I can't tell!)

Cool..... Lucky finds up there in Canada my friend !.... I suppose If I asked "my" bank here in Kansas for rolls of "Canadian" coins, I'd get the same answer you did !

I think most of the 'errors' that you see are nothing other then wear. and the 'filled die' is nothing special, actually, finding a coin from the mid-late 70's without a filled die might be more of an accomplishment...
