Die Deterioration is always in the direction of the closest rim. Machine Doubling can be on one side or both sides, on either side of one side of a device. (Top or bottoms also)
So this is Machine Doubling. The difference?
If the devices devices are reduced, it is Machine Doubling. (damage to the coins devices after the strike)
If the devices are not reduced, it is die wear. If the devices are enlarged onto the fields towards the rim, it is Die Deterioration.
