My first actual coin post I'd like to note that the images were taken with a generic clip-on macro lens, which is why the image centers are more detailed and why the outer areas of the images appear blurry.
I pulled this dime this from a binder I received that had a small collection of random coins, and it raised questions. Seems obvious it's some type error but I'm having issues accurately determining what error it may be. I'm leaning towards the possibility of it being either an off-metal strike, like maybe on a foreign planchet, or the counterfeit possibility. I've read that wrong planchet errors may or may not consist of the same compositions, and that for a coin to be an considered an off-metal error it would have to exclusively be a different composition than normal. Issue is I don't know what kind of metal it is. I haven't really looked into it potentially being a counterfeit dime, but that possibility isn't ruled out just yet. The coin doesn't react to a magnet so steel can be ruled out, it weighs 2.96 grams and it's "clink" doesn't sound like the normal silver clink, so I assume there's no silver content present, but again I have no idea. Also has a few other interesting features, as seen in the images. Can someone solve this for me thanks!

@MH, first welcome to CFF. Second, it looks like this piece is too heavy, dull grey in color, has mushy devices, and is easily scratched. I wonder if you haven't found a lead counterfeit dime. Worth saving in a 2x2.

Parking lot coin. It is a keeper as it is a silver coin.
