Before I post the images, I want you to read: This coin that I have has a weight of 2.5g, and matches the same exact dimensions and thickness of this 5 pfennig coin. Plus, it has a different thickness than the original 50 pfennig coin. Oh, and I need someone to post images of the rim/edge of the 1890's 5 pfennig coin to compare it.Here are the images:

Did any of the 1890's 5 pfennig coins have rough edges like bumps?

What I find most unlikely about the "wrong planchet" idea is that the design is perfectly centered on the coin. I suspect someone was playing around with a standard 1980 coin.

I am replying after all this time since I made one last interesting discovery... this coin has the same shape, rim, thickness, and weight as a US Mercury dime planchet... if anyone can explain this or give any information at all, I would be pleased to hear it #9786;#65039;

If that's the case, then I would speculate that someone with way too much time on their hands has crafted a "fake dime" out of the German coin, for use in a vending machine.
