In 93 they changed the Initials, straighter top of G & straigther no notch bottom of G. On this one the top of G appears to be curved.Bottom of G has weak spot next to vertical bar. Could be giving the illusion of notching. Vertical bar is definatly larger than normal.
Couple more pics. Nothing else jumps out at me.
Charles, Thanks for a bit of information you stated a while back. Don't look through coins for known varities, get familiar with the design, the changes to the dies over the years and errors & varities will pop out at you. Or something to that nature. It works.
I would like to see other areas of the reverse of this coin. The initials appear to have thickness usually associated with minor doubled dies. If this is the case, this coin would be a new discovery, as there are no currently reported 1993D doubled die reverse cents that have this type of doubling.
If the image on the bottom is the same coin as the image on the top, it's a normal cent. AIt's the lighting on the top image that makes the initials look odd.
If they are not the same coin, I would still want to see other areas of the coin to determine whether it could be a doubled die. The macro shots of the whole coin are useless in determining this.
Charles, the pictures are the same coin. Had the oppertunity to look at this coin under a real microscope. No doubling anywheres else on the reverse. It clearly showed the weak spot on arc of G and horizontal bar. It also showed top arc of G is straight. Always appreciate your responces.
