Are you sure that just isn't a well placed hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened? I'm very skeptical about this one.

Not the doubled ear.
1997-LMC-DDO-001-Searching-Bankrolls
The doubling on this one looks like the SW border of Arizona. Not just the bottom of the lobe is affected. Also the mark on the OP's lobe is incuse from damage, note the DDO is raised, not incuse.

Cory your coin does not resemble the 1997 FS-101 sorry but its not it. It is a well placed chip or plating issue hit just right in the high point of the lobe. I have an 1986 and 1996 with stronger Strike Doubling than your example that stick out remarkably. All sorts of oddities happen on these cents but a true double die passes all the tests. I do the same. I misidentify Strike Doubling frequently especially the 1982 DDO and 1983 DDO's. Your coin is definatly a keeper but not the doubled ear variety. Sorry.

That's not DDO-001. It looks like damage.

I don't see the die clash for Stage A. I can't see the die gouges under the lapel for Stages B-E. And I don't see the die chips for Stages D-E.

If the variety is not there, the markers mean nothing.
