Quote: Nice one! I love seeing the dies fall apart. I agree. The late die states are much more interesting to me. I've always thought it would be fun if a bunch of collectors would work together on the forum to put together a catalog of known dies for a particular date based on die cracks and other markers. I wonder how many we could find? I'll have to check my few 1907's to see if I have any with die cracks.

Nice coin. You might want to get some Verdi-Care on that corrosion so that it doesn't eat into the surface.

1907's have some neat varieties with the 7 R/P'd and sticking out the end of the upper left serif ... at least 2 involving the serif and at least 3 with the underpunch above the top of the 7. And then 4 types of the underpunch below the top of the seven or off either side of the vertical. There is also a neat D/C above the date that chipped so it looks like an apostrophy and that's what it's called. I probably have at least 50 of them, but no time to look.
Good to see New Zealand back on the site. B

Phil310, that would be very interesting to put together a catalog. To be honest, I like the later die states much better.

Yes, I DID receive a neat NZ coin. I thought that I emailed you back, thanking you ... but I'm old and forgetful. I want to correct my earlier post about other 1907's. It is the 1919 large cent that has the apostrophe, NOT the 1907. Here are a couple R/P'd 7's though:

Verdi-Care (and soon) is good advice on the first coin.

Nice examples of the die cracks and DP7's, I have one with die cracks as well as the DP7 the 7 is different than the ones Okie showed and I'm sure there are others. This coin has a die crack @ tip of leaf 2, another through leaf 9 + 8, between leaf 11 + 12, from leaf 13-12 outside edge and the inside of leaves 15- 14

I wrote about a couple different repunched 7s in this date - I'll try to dig up the photos...

1907 looks like an interesting year for reverse dies. Three different repunched 7's already posted and three with nice die cracks.(papeldog's coin has both)
I wish I could make a contribution to the thread but I only have a few 1907's and none of mine have die cracks or any other obvious markers that I can see.

There are R/P'd 7's found on the 1907H also. Cheers, Bill

Here is the 1907H that I wrote about (March 2017)... note the notching in the upper right part of the 7.
