It does not appear to be cleaned in hand, there are not many hairlines or scratches at all and the color is a nice chocolate brown, maybe a shade darker than the milk chocolate in the photos. The dies were somewhat worn and/or misaligned as evidenced by the obverse rim flattening out on an axis towards K5 and the weakness of the denticles in that area.
This appears to be the "narrow / low 9" variety, apparently the 2nd most common for the date. I'm still hunting for an 1858 that is both affordable and not a total embarrassment to a coin album.
