Hello all, This is my first post here on this forum. Have been maino into coins for the past 5 years but received this $1 note in a trade. Basically paid nothing for it. Now I don't know much about notes, but I do know low serial numbers make the note more unique. This note happens to have a very low serial number and is in absolute mint shape. What do you experts on this side of the spectrum think something like this might be worth. Is it worth sending out to be graded? Looking forward from hearing from y'all.

The book price for a note like that is $30.00 CDN. If you were to sell it, you might get 50-60% of that. Not worth getting graded. It would cost you more than it's value. It would also be considered a low serial number. A very low serial number would be under 100. Also to the CCF

Thank you sir! Since I'm a Canadian I guess it's going in the good ole collection then. Thought it would have had a little high but value but it is paper at the end of the day hehe jk. Also didn't know a low serial number is considered under a hundred. Thanks for the info.

Low serials are normally 100 or lower, even under 10 but who knows someone might pay extra for this note, chuck it on ebay

Quote: Low serials are normally 100 or lower, even under 10 but who knows someone might pay extra for this note -actually a low serial numbered note is below 1000 Quote: The book price for a note like that is $30.00 CDN. According to my 2018 Charlton the UNC for the 1969-79 series $1.00 is $100 so it may be worth getting graded if the note is uncirculated (or UNC, if that is what you mean by "mint" which is not really the word we go by when collecting paper money). From your posted photo I'd say the note looks nearly UNC (or AU) but I could be wrong. Hold the note up at angle to a light and look for any wrinkles or irregularities. If it is perfect- then its UNC. Hope this helps & welcome to CCF - W2W

Guess I'm going to have to get a 2018 Catalogue. The prices must have really jumped. According to my 2015, serial numbers below 100 are worth $100.00.

The bill looks fresh off the press. Not too familiar with note grading but bill looks straight off a sheet.

It's at best a hundred dollar note, hardly worth grading and the serial # is a tweener not really a cool low #, just ask what would you pay for this note. The best advise for currency is like W2W mentioned hold the bill to a good light and angle look for marks and ripples, that will give you idea if it's unc or even close to it.

Direct from Charlton Catalogue: "A bank note with a serial number less than 1000 may be classified as a Low Serial Numbered Note". Of course, the lower the number, the more valuable the note.
