I currently have every proof set (normal issue, silver and Prestige) from the United States mint back to 1955, including the flat and box sets in their original packaging. Most of them I bought directly, starting in 1975 if memory serves me. I held off on going back farther for the time being, weighing the decision as to whether or not continue on with the original packaging or begin with the highest graded TPG's. Part of me wants to stay the course since the originals are shrinking in survivor numbers. So, what do you think? And yes, I'm drinking a cup as I type.

Stick with the original packaging-it probably takes up less bulk.
Rest in Peace

I would stay the course, in my honest opinion. That's an incredible feat to have and would be a shame to end. Just my Two Cents.

To throw slabs into an OGP proof set collection would just look too out of place.

You have come so far, it would be a shame to change course now.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and agree with everyone - keep collecting original packaging. Sometimes the whole is larger than the individual parts. You have created quite a set.

I have original packaging back to 1958 and capitol holders from there back to 1950. The packaging for 1950 to 1955 are crude in the original format so I'm happy with my sets as they are.

Going back further in OGP is going to become very difficult, especially on the pre-1950 sets. I think I've only ever seen one pre-1942 set in OGP.

Most importantly, thank you all for making my decision easier. Greatly appreciated. I'm sticking with the original issues.
