This series of coins has been extensively counterfeited. The combination of magnet and weight tests will clear most of the poor quality fakes Real Trade dollars weigh around 26-27 grams and aren't attracted to magnets.

The 81 Trade dollar were only minted as proof examples for collectors. Your coin is a counterfeit as the coin has a type 1 reverse. The 81 proofs all have a type 2 reverse.

Just lie to a guy sometimes fellas! I was feeling a horseshoe up my butt for a second there... lol. Thank you everyone. I have a heavy duty magnet fishing recovery magnet and got ZERO action from any of these coins, although they do weigh in at around 26 grams on my messed up weight watchers scale ;)
Thanks again!!

Weight's wrong too, Trade dollar should be 27.2 +/- .09 grams. 26 is over a gram light.

Got a proper scale this morning, 7 out of 8 are all at 27.11-27.24. One of them is 25.24.... ? These look TOO GOOD to be true, but FEEL to real to be fake.

The coins could be made of silver. The coin does not look like a proof. It looks like the counterfeiter made it from a type 1 business strike.

Bad Chinese fake. Almost certainly made of pot metal.

100% a Chinese counterfeit...it has a mismatched type for the date, and has the classic look of a fake.
