I have never even seen pennies like these before and I found two in the same day one is mint marked D the other is P. They are pretty crazy and the guy looks like a zombie and his hands are pretty messed up. I'm hoping I finally found something good

to CCF fellow Michigander. There are known DDR's for the P mint,I found more than a few. Yours look like normal circulation wear to me.

Looks like two circulated 2009 cents. I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

The guy is a young Abraham Lincoln and these were made to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his birth and the 100th anniversary of the original Lincoln Cent. They made fewer of these in 2009 because the economy had crashed so they are a little scarce to find in circulation but not really valuable in any way in circulated condition.

In 2009 there were four different cents minted to honor President Lincoln:

1)Birthplace
2)Formative years (the one you have)
3)Professional Life
4)Presidency.
They are commonly found.

Also, to CCF

Lots of DDR's on that series of cents. Coppercoins shows over 100+ different DDRs not counting the DDOs.

Thank you everyone I have a few of those pennies the two I posted pictures of looked noticeably different to me without zooming in. His fingers look very strange and almost claw like. I googled it and it said there were a bunch of different things going on with that coin. I'm not sure if it makes it valuable but my kids, husband and I have been having fun trying to find defects and collecting.

When there are defects in coin does it change the value of it? Right now we have just been saving wheat pennies, silver, and Canadian my 7, and 5 year olds love Canadian nickels.

We have also found a bunch of dimes and nickels that are a bit off center but still show the entire design, and a bunch that have either very thick or thin edges. Are coins like that worth saving or just something neat to come across

That would depend on the type of error or variety.

That would depend on whether or not it is a MAD or an off center strike. Thick/thin edges we would need to see good pics. Most of the time it is just a full strike on a business strike coin and normal on most proof coins.
