Hmm. Looks like it could be a lamination. (Don't take my word for it-I'm new)
A reverse picture could be helpful.

Is the coin bent at all? If so it maybe damage.

It just seems like it is damage with the incuse horizontal lines. But the other areas that are oval shaped, don't know what to make of those areas. Seeing the reverse might show us more?

@coop, could the circular areas be damage from Sulfuric acid droplets?

Ok so the coin is not bent in any way. I will get a pic up of the reverse. Not really anything strange about the reverse except for a copper line that goes behind the 2 on 2001. Also on the face side of the coin, if this were damage that came after would the letters and numbers not be damaged as well? And if it were acid wouldn't it have ate through the clad and copper would then be visible? I'm new to this so.....thank you for everyone's response I apprieceate all the help #129488;#129299;
