I sure do appreciate ya'll! As for the coin shop he gave me the name address etc.. he said They weighed the coins and I had asked him why they wouldn't buy them... said they had 60 or so of them and they weren't easily sold. That in itself caused 💩 turd blockage.. haha He also said he had taken them to the pawnshop they were tested and offered to buy them for melt. This fellas daughter has cancer and he's in a bind... which I'm aware of so it just made it more difficult to accept them as fake and not being able to help out.. I don't really have the extra $ to begin with. I had mentioned not having all the money on me and just made the remarks of givin what I had then having them checked out and go from there.... to hear how much it would really help out and so on ... really makes me want to be an idiot and buy some fake coins anyhow. I've been guilty on more than one occasion of buying stuff that was nothing like described or I would've ever expected ... but you find yourself in an unfortunate rundown place that's home to these people asking "what if we come down a little" always being the respectful considerate person I am... "sure ,what ya got in mind " instead of " Come down a little... yeah I may be coming down with something... nobody in their right mind would even be standing here" haha

Choose your friends wisely, these coins a phonies. Either the coin store was lying or your friend, coin store would of spotted those as fake from across the room, so you can decipher the liar.

These are well-known fakes. Both have discrepancies in details when compared to the real thing, as pointed out by nss-52 and Slider23.

Fake. Both have funny dates especially 1893, denticles are off, details looks mushy and inconsistent. Run away from these.

Perhaps your friend was taken originally when buying them. If the coin shop supposedly has a bunch of them, then they're buying them from that unmentionable web site that sells counterfeit morgans. I would sincerely tell your friend that the consensus is that they're fakes.

Well as it turns out the coins were in fact authenticated by CR COINS in North Richland Hills TX. Yesterday afternoon the dealer from the coin shop happened upon the Offer up listing of them. The listing was $75 a piece... THE DEALER PAID $125 A PIECE AND $1400 FOR 9 OTHER MORGANS HE HAD!
Anyone got an idea as to why?

The question is why a dealer would pay an average of $150 each for Morgans that were offered for $75.

Well if it were my guess... the dealer knew what they were. Because I know for fact he sold them for the price I mentioned! After showing him this thread yesterday I was informed that the coins were examined with a 10x mag. This message was response to why the coin shop didn't buy them..... ""He had over 60 of them and wasn't interested in purchasing more. He said they don't sell well. He is the one who told me to use offer up. He said a collector will see these and buy them. I went to pawn shops and they only wanted the silver weight. He tested them and they are silver... the weight was correct.. and the density was correct... counterfitters don't have the same quality dies he explained to me and the metals are always softer. My coins were withing range. They are absolutely real I assure you. I understand your concern just as I am everytime I buy something but all I can do is tell you what I have. And tell you what I was told about them. I don't like being in this situation either letting my grandfather's coins go for 75 to 80 bucks but like I said I gotta do what I gotta do.""
I'm really curious if this shop is crooked or if mistakes were made here.

OBVIOUS FAKES. This topic has been beaten to death, the OP can believe what he wants. Why bother posting if you won't believe what those who are knowledgeable have to say?

THIS OP IS TRYING TO GET ANSWERS! My apologies if I've distributed you in some way! I've read many many posts throughout this forum and have seen many DISCUSSIONS goin back and forth between individuals... so I ask you Jimbucks,at what point did you figure your opinion mattered more than the rest? Now if you wanna voice your opinion as to why the dealer bought them for $125 vs the $75 list price I'd be happy to hear. Otherwise no need in YELLING on a post you can simply pass up! Thank you!

Here is a reverse counterfeit 1893 CC that I pulled from a Chinese website with the same die marking as the coins you posted. The coins are made from 90% silver and sell for $30.11 with shipping included. I am not going to post again in trying to convince you the coins are counterfeit.
