Hi everyone,

I'm new to coin collecting and at the minute I've just been collecting the commemorative £2, 50p and 10p coins but collecting them from my change is just giving me the same ones over and over again. I've seen a few videos on YouTube of people opening multiple bags of 50p coins and looking for the ones they want to collect. Does anyone know how I can get a large amount of 50p coins or 10p coins? I've asked in my bank if I can withdraw money from my account all in 50p coins and they told me they don't give large amounts of change. They said that as soon as they get coins in they get rid of them straight away because they're not allowed to keep large amounts of coins. I don't know if it's just nationwide or if all banks are the same.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Never heard such rubbish in all my life. They are banks not much use if they don't hold any cash lol. Shop keepers rely on them for float money. I think you were dealing with a jobsworth. Don't withdraw from account . take your money out first then go in the bank and ask for W/E you need like £50 in 50p's etc.

Try a different bank. It has been discussed elsewhere that some banks give out more change (e.g. if it's near a shopping centre) while others receive more (e.g. if it's in a more residential area).

depends on how much your talking about really? They do have a limit that they can hold on a daily bases but its probably no where near what you want.

i mean if I show up to any local bank and demanded 5000 pounds of 50 pence I doubt they can supply that much, however it would be funny, I think they would think your pranking them.

Just say you need it for drugs ^_^ (i mean cold medication)

Thanks for the replies. I thought it sounded a bit strange that a bank wouldn't be able to give coins to customers. I'll try the things that you have suggested and see if I can get any using those methods

Thanks again everyone.
