Nope. It is a product of heavy Die Deterioration, caused by a worn die issue, from striking a ton of planchets at the U.S. Mint. The die that struck your coin was pretty worn down. Note the ridge rim, die flow, and stretching of Lincoln's bust?

I can see how it could be Die Deterioration, because it's "flowing" out towards the rim. It just seems a bit strange that it's just that spot that is extended and nothing else. I haven't seen this before, but then again maybe I just never noticed.

I don't why that area extends out like that, on his bust. It seems to be a common area to have this problem.

Incuse lines from coin contact. If they were raised, then it would be an incuse line on the die.

The anomaly is raised, so the issue was on the die. Thanks for the info on Die Deterioration, I'd never seen it like this but now I know.

Also something else to consider, it there was a slight amount of grease on that area of the die the coin will not be stuck up as strong also on your coin we can see the rolling lines still visible. That is what I feel we are looking at on your coin. The lines where not fully removed from the original planchet. Thus because of the grease, they are still visible. Not a premium but knowing even more helps the brain from getting distracted on little stuff.

Grease does make sense, though it seems kinda strange that such an occurrence is so common on other shield cents as other members have pointed out. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the anomaly is at the very bottom of the bust?
Also hey, thanks for making that photo, I've always wanted to be in one of those images!

Well on your coin the idea came to me about the rolling lines on the planchets that don't get removed after the strike. This coin came to mind and I've seen coins like yours before. Just never attached the two together as a combo issue.
