Crap! I hate it when that happens. Sometimes opinions don't come fast enough.

I'm not sure who you are asking but Heritage auction history would be a good place to start:http://www.PCGScoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/6245. That's assuming it is indeed an ms coin and that has no issues. Because it's being sold as raw, the somewhat safe bet would be to drop it by a couple grades to find a somewhat accurate value. If you think it's 63, then look at sold values at 61. But again that's assuming there are NO issues. You can only tell so much from a picture which is why folks with low risk tolerances don't buy raw high-grade coins. Myself included.

With that said, I should add that for $350 the risk/reward is very favorable.

MikeF, I was asking for anyone's estimate. When I had originally posted I had thought it would grade AU58 at the very least. I did some research on Heritage and PCGS and I looked at grade values between AU53-AU58 and the pricing was around $350-$400 so I was willing to take the chance. If it is MS then the BIN price was very good, if AU and/or issues then not so good. Just my Two Cents.

That's the way I look at it. At that price the risk is quite low. Negligible risk really.

The interesting thing is this seller has numerous coins, both slabbed and raw, that are very nice and priced appropriately but then listed this one "Uncirculated" and priced it at less than half of retail for an uncirculated 1844 Seated Half.

That coin has an awesome strike! After looking at his other auctions I just bought the 1853/4 Seated quarter for 125.00 Even lightly cleaned, I feel it's a bargain. Here's the link. Looks a nice VF-30 (I guess details cleaned) to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1853-4-Sea...:rk:121:pf:0

Ha! That was very sneaky. I'm glad you purchased it. Your pictures are more revealing but I'm still struggling to see any signs of rub.

The only concern would be what looks like parallel hairlines in the field between liberty's head and cap on the first set of pictures.

nice pick up. I was on the low side of the grading scale due to the limited luster, but this coin is pq for any au grade. as others noted the strike and detail are fantastic. I don't think you went wrong for what you paid. nice in hand pics too. congrats!

Glad you got it. For $350 it looks like a very good buy.

Whether it's AU+ or low MS? Flip a coin.

I was on the fence with this one before I bought it. I posted this hoping for some quick responses to shed light on something I might not have seen or to confirm my thoughts. After the first few comments I decided let it go and not purchase the coin, the risk wasn't worth it. The next day when I saw other opinions, which were closer to my thoughts, I decided to buy the coin if it was still available. So Thank You everyone who posted a comment, it helped me make the decision.

Now.. My thoughts of the coin before buying.
I thought that this coin would grade between AU55 and AU58 and possible MS but no luster.

My thoughts after the coin in hand..
This coin still looks the same as I originally thought but there could be problems. I tried to get good pictures but the seller pics and mine do not show what I see under a scope/loupe.

Yes, there are a few hairlines there and looks like a very very light rub. Also next to Liberty's right arm it looks like there could be some light damage or ED.
Overall If I got lucky then MS61 - MS62 but I would probably say it is MS Details, or AU Details by today's TPG's standards.
