Here are pics best I could take of a dollar that a teller I work with got in her drawer at the bank. I paid her a dollar for it. Is it an error? If so what is it called and any idea of the value. It's in VERY good condition in my opinion. I'm new to this so so what do I know? LOL

Looks to me like one they should have pulled, definitely has transfer from the stack below it! As far as a value at least one dollar but might be more to the right person. Oh and enjoy the rest of your birthday!

I wouldn't spend it, no. I'd keep it, and appreciate it. In fact, I wish I could find one like it! That's really neat.

It may never be worth thousands of dollars as an error, but error collectors would probably pay more than a dollar for that one. As an investment, you can be assured that it's value will never be less than $1.00 though.

Okay I examined this more closely. After holding it up to the light realize that it is a offset printing (I think so at least) here is the definition I've seen....Offset Printings - Impressive errors that look like one side of the note "bled" through the other side. The offset or Wet Ink Transfer places a mirror image on the wrong side of the note. Often called "blanket impressions" Some printing errors are more distinguishable that others.

Your offset is definitely a keeper! Look on the Heritage coins website under paper money and then click the archives box. Under category "currency" search "offsets" in "all past auctions". Before doing this join the website. It is free. Then when you search you can sign in and see past auction results with prices realized. They have a note similar to your note but from your photo I can't tell if your note is as strong. The note on Heritage brought $138. Even if you note is not as strong it is still a keeper.

Thanks! I was going to keep it even if it wasn't worth anything only because I hadn't seen one like it before.

I just saw a Federal Reserve note on ebay with an ink smear going for US$56!

I'd hang onto it.
