Ron, Finn, Bob and everyone on the forum, thanks to you guys, I finally did it today. I bought a non-Roman! My local coin dealer said that he picked up some ancients and to come have a look. He had a nice bunch - I mean really really nice. No coin less than Fine. I picked up 3 Romans (of course), Tacitus, Elagabalus, and Constantius Chlorus and two that I really know nothing about. Well I know about their history, but not their coinage.

Kinda weird negotiating with him, but I had my choice of coins at a flat rate of $32 per coin. I think a really great deal, wish I coulda bought all of them

I agree with Bob, well done. I would gladly pay that for those coins. Those are really nice. I would like to have a coin of Carthage someday.

Two very nice coins, I particularly like the Menander drachm. It's said that he adopted the diadem without the spear when he became a Buddhist and no longer believed in war.

Very nice pickups! Careful, collecting Bactrian drachms is a slippery slope into the Kshatrapas, then the Guptas, then you have a 200 coin Indian collection before you realize it!

Finn, I'm determined to finish my Romans first. I'll pick up a few others here and there. I'm about to finish the Constantinian Dynasty first. Just need Julian II and Helena.
