I bought the clad proof 2 of them in 99 but did not even start collecting the silver until 05 so I was one that had to play catch up

Well the price of the 99 Silver set has come down in the past year. Last year it was hovering around $475-$500. Today you can pick one up for $250-$350.

I wish the US mint would put a small serial number on the case. It would help to determine how many sets have been cracked open. Of course this would mean that the TPG's and the shop at home channels would need to list any serial numbers that they cracked open.

If they did this for every year, we as collectors could get a clearer number of intact sets. I think if this was to happen, the prices of proof sets would slowly start to rise as higher number of sets get cracked open.

.....That's a very interesting thought.....probably not likely to happen though !...
