So I found a 1943 nickel today... But here is the kicker when I turned it over THERE WAS no mint mark on top of the Montecello...

What is up with that?

The 35% silver War Nickel mint marks ware off fast. its like all the soft silver is in the mintmarks

I would love to see a picture of your coin--and any other silver War Nickels with the mint mark worn off since there's a chance these are counterfeits.

Was it really badly worn? Even if so, you should still be able to see a faint shadow of a mint mark and figure out what it is.

Super-rolls, have you double checked the date on your coin yet? Is it a 1943 or a 1944 and can you post pics?

And check for faint traces of the mintmark because I have seen filled die coins with the mintmark mostly gone.
