Here it is December again. I enjoy the holidays but I have noticed that in the month of December more people out bid others on ebay and then fail to make good on payment. I usually go all year without any defaults except in December. It is December 5th and I already have one bidder default on four coins. All four the bidder over bid other bidders.
I think it may be that people try to buy coins for gifts then get worried because they have no idea what the values are so they fail to pay. (just speculation)

They've been increasing all year since ebay has been pushing more of the Amazon style return models

This is what used to frustrate me when I used to sell on ebay, you get excited a coin sells and they never pay, ebay says they give like a strike or a warning on the sellers account but still many people seem to do it.

I guess it must be part of the gig but it definitely did turn me off ebay, some buyers are serious some will flake. Maybe in December people are pretty distracted but still.

When selling, I use mostly BINs and rarely auction. There is an option for immediate payment when setting up the listing. Have been pretty fortunate so far with buyers paying.

I only use the "But It Now" method with the option of allowing for offers.

Perhaps I'm just lucky, but in my six years of doing this I have only had two non-paying buyers, one in China and one in Japan. No problem with U.S. buyers at all.

Capt.John gits NPB almost every week. I file for a refund of selling fees. ebay gives those fees back and puts a strike agin the bidder. Supposedly they gits kicked off if'n they gits three strikes. But jest to be sure, I blocks em from ever biddin on me beauties agin. It be the plank fer NPBs.

Here be me standard warning about not paying or paying late:

Quote:
Payment due within 5 days. It be the plank fer them lubbers what don't pays on time.

#8203;If'n yer late paying, no return privilege.
