Is this the right price for such a coin as this? as the seller probably overinflated the grades but it looked a whopper so I had to have a go!

"Non payers will be black-listed, receive negative feedback, reported to ebay and receive an unpaid item strike against them." Wonder where he dreams this?

Using real (European) grading, more like a VG, but it's a nice coin.

Using that grading system might not be good for this type of coin?

G'day, I'd rate this at the upper end of VF: all of the design elements are present.
Obv: the Queen's hair, and the fabric over her shoulder are worn, and there's a few small dings.
Rev: plenty of detail remains, including the strings of the harp.

I've been looking out for a "Queen's shilling", but I want to get one from the year that that expression came into use, and I my research has not yet revealed which year that was.
That word "VIGO" gives this coin a very special appeal.
I hope, when I get one, that it's as good as this one.

Go a hunting and you might also get one for a mere 125 quid ;)

In what year was the phrase 'a Queen's Shilling' coined?

- some time in the reign of Anne. My research has not yet revealed the precise answer.
If you latch on to anything, please let me know.

How about a bit of a history lesson for us about this coin?

Am I correct is that Queen Anne is on the coin and that coins with VIGO on them used gold and silver seized in the British victory at Spanish port city of Vigo?

You are right on both points, however I am not an expert on these and so cannot give much of a 'lesson'.
I just wanted to show these off!..

Thanks for showing it off. Very nice looking coin.

Regarding the history the confirmation of what I knew on good enough.

I do like knowing a bit about the background of coins. Like who is on the coin or meaning of any special inscriptions.

In the Battle of Vigo Bay, a combined Anglo-Dutch fleet destroyed a
combined French-Spanish fleet in 1702 during the War of the Spanish Succession.
The English and Dutch victors captured Spanish silver worth about a million pounds.
Some believe that additional silver may still lie at the bottom of the bay.
