Hi everyone, Being new to coin collecting, I'm facing a big problem where I'm keeping most of the "odd" looking error coins without knowing if it's worth any value or not Would appreciate if you could help me to compile my "worth to keep errors or variations" list. 1st I would like to know the different type of errors 2nd I would like to know if its common error or legendary error (example grading common, uncommon, rare, super rare or legendary) 3rd I would like to know if it's worth any value if I am to keep or sell coins with such error. I know it is not a straight foward answer to these questions, however I'm hoping with everyone's help that I can compile my own coin collections in a systematic way. Big thanks in advance for your time and contribution

As coaster suggested there's a bit of reading to get proper answers to those questions. Probably worth posting a few of your coins for opinions here to start getting an idea of things.

Hey everyone, Opened my first 5 cents roll and found this coin. Need some expert opinions please This is a 2008 coin. I noticed that there is Cud on bottom left paw and rim Cud. However I also noticed the full inside ring. What error is the inner ring called? I noticed 2 more 2008 5 cents with the inside ring, is it a common error? And what would the value be if I am to sell this coin online (thinking to fund a USB microscope ) I also tried to wipe the black/dark stains on the right side of coin using a microfiber cloth but could not remove it. Is that also considered an error? On a different coin, I found an edge or rim error on a $2 coin and don't know the name for this error. It would be great if someone can help me with the name of the error. Is this a common error and what would be the estimated value of this coin? Thanks everyone for your time and enjoy the weekend!

Nice finds. The 2008 5c with the inner ring is an odd one - many 5c pieces that year have the inner but no one seems to have got to the bottom of it. It does have a rim Cud though (the raised bit of rim to the left of the echidna) - I think they're more often seen on dollar coins though. The two dollar coin is an off-centre strike at least - do you have a picture of the edge?

5 cents - Does anyone know what might cause the dark spot on the right side of the coin?
$2 dollar - Had a look at the edge and everything is normal.
By the way, what is the different between off-center strike and broadstruck?

Quote: 5 cents - Does anyone know what might cause the dark spot on the right side of the coin? The spot touching the rim? Probably a reaction from finger oils or some other contaminant.
