Neat idea Doug. I have about thirty already prepared on my image host. (Probably 75 images of them.) Be neat to do a poll question. But I'm not sure if you have that many choices? Choice: "I like number 17." I could weed them down to less though. That would be tough though. So many nice ones posted on here before.

A while back I gave it some thought myself. Maybe do a top 10 poll of each month. Then poll the results at the end of the year for top spot. Then got to thinking about how many error and variety categories I'd have to keep track of (times 10) per month. Well, I thought I'd sleep on it and well since then, I guess I forgot to wake up. Thanks for all the replies. @Coop, cool frame, but man that GREEN, that's hard on the eyes.  So, I'm starting to appreciate these couple of error pennies I found. Since I posted them, I have searched 15 pounds of wheats, and haven't found another error. I'm starting to think they are not that common. |

Is it likely that the planchet was delaminated prior to the strike, or is this something that happens during the strike? I find this coin interesting, so I'm not thinking of selling, but how does one establish "collector value" for error coins like this? |

A planchet error is a one time event. During the run, probably one was cut with that affected are. Most of the time the stock material is free from error. But after the blank was cut, the upset rim is added turning it into a planchet. Then onto being struck. These can peel before or after the strike. So the chances seeing the same exact error doesn't happen often. The more severe the lamination, the more interesting they become. A keeper. If minor, they can hurt the value of the coin. The better ones could be a one time event. So don't think you can retire off of it, but it would have a mild premium.

OK, whats with the ducks? Are you trying to tell me something?
What are you doing with the images? Increasing contrast? They really pop in your images. Like they have extra depth or something.

Adjust contrast.Adjust color. That is supposed to be a king fish. I added color and feathers to it. it was a Jade carving. I guess I got carried away with it. (I do that) Not a duck, well it started out not being a duck.

What software utility are you using to modify the images?

Photoshop 5.5. I have an older computer and having been using this program for over 20 years. Probably edited edited between 80K to 100K images. The program still works on the home edition windows 7. Check out the image I edited on this link: http://goccf.com/t/334722Edited by coop
