It might be a bit clearer if you removed it from the 2x2

I agree. Not good. Don't clean. We will either figure it out, or not.
If I had to take a guess based on provided pics, I'd say 1830. That's my guess.

My best guess is the date on the 2X2 is right, I came to the same conclusion without seeing the date written on it.

OK... I'm willing to go out on a limb here.

This is an 1830. The last digit is obvious. The first 2 digits are a given. The 3rd digit is the one in question obviously, but there are only 3 possibilities (1,2,3). I know it's not a 1. That leaves 2 or 3. It can't be a 2 because it obviously stops in a point along the bottom. That leaves a 3.
This is the large letters variety. The last S in states is visible. It ends before the top laurel. Were the S past the top laurel then it would be the medium letters variety.
I'd grade this as P-01.

The coin has a lot of character. I get a kick out of thinking what it has been through in its life.

If I'm right that this is a Coronet Head Cent then 10 is out and has to be 20 or 30. And being in such poor shape (And basicly getting it for pennys) Cleaning might be the best bet!

I'd say it is an 1820. As Springcypress says the last digit is obviously a 0, but it is a ROUND 0 such as used on the 1820. In 1830 the 0 was oval. Also the E of ONE can be seen on the reverse and it tells me they are Style I letters which were used through 1821 (and 1822 N-14). 1830 used Style II letters.
