Ok, I read the grading guidelines but I am not sure about the cheek. MS65 because the cheek is like it is?

It's a nice looking coin, but I'm thinking no higher than MS64. The pics may be hiding some marks/chatter, especially on the obverse.

Can't tell what's happening on his cheek. Yes, I'm thinking it's Mint State....something. The link is a good guide line and starting point for grading these things. It's a nice coin.

Here are some more photos with light sources from different directions. I am trying to learn and see what affects it and why. Thank you.

It just takes time and practice. I still have the same problems with light, reflections and focus today with my coins. Your coin looks really nice to me. MS63/64?

Also, can't quite tell. Are those pictures taken with the coin outside the 2x2 flip. If not, always take your pictures with the coins outside the holders....if you can.

Yes it is out of the holder but I leave it on the plastic to take the pictures.

I'm no expert in grading (not even close ) but there are many different things to look for, even on uncirculated coins. There are several books available on grading, including one about grading from pictures as well as the official ANA guide. I can't recommend one specifically because I have yet to get one.

If you are trying to learn how to grade coins then the Kennedy half dollar is not a good choice in my opinion .
Go to this site and learn how to grade all U.S. coins .
